Film Log July 24

I decided it would be a good idea to log every film/tv series I watched that month and write brief reviews for each one. Expect more in august.

Twisters (2024)

Predictable and boring. There's like 3 scenes of tornadoes destroying stuff in 2 and a half hours. Most of the film is country music and the characters being annoying. For the amount of hot actors it's weird to see that there was no sexiness to it.

Possessor (2020)

A cyberpunk sensory-overload nightmare. Two minds fight for control over a body in a world where one's identity is mostly defined by the corporation they work in. Great modern take on Cronenberg-the-father.

Lake Mungo (2008)

A story about grief and loss and the past told through a mockumentary narration. Kind of typical story of buried tragedies and traumas that take place in a small town (the last name of the family — Palmers — being one of the obvious nods to David Lynch).

The Blair With Project (1998)

Found footage classic. The terror of being lost in the woods is a theme not being explored enough.

Smiling Friends: season 2 (2024)

Surrealism and absurdity grounded in day-to-day mundanity of late-stage capitalist society. Like the first season, but better.
